There is a point in Life, when we tend to question certain aspects of our experience. That kind of time is crucial. It is like an assessment on the trajectory so far. It requires the ability to observe, to contemplate, and to be present. But above all, it requires honesty and a burning desire for Truth.
Why is it so crucial? Because it gives us the opportunity to realign with our essential nature. This can mean a realignment to move in the direction of Dharma – to live a dharmic life is to know who we are, and to live purposefully and with vision for the whole.
To align with the cosmic order, Ishwara, takes time, work, sadhana, commitment, perseverance, etc…but it all starts with that fundamental questions:
- “The way I am living my life – is it bringing me joy, peace, fulfilment?”
- “Is this life that I am living bringing me closer to truth?”
- “My inner truth – is it aligned with Nature’s truth?”
And if it is already, the refinement carries on as the understanding can always get deeper and
deeper. But sometimes it is not. We are not happy with our job, or with the family structure we find ourselves in, or with our relationships, or with the geographical location we are walking our steps upon…
We try to suppress, to adjust, to numb, to escape, to cope…we try different inner mechanisms to continue on the same path, and secretly we know that it is not serving us, but at first, we don’t seem to see a solution through. The fear of change is there. The fear of the unknown can indeed be powerful. It can block us, unless we channel that courage, that strength in Nature that will lead us to reinvent ourselves.
The ability to reinvent also requires coming to silence, to listen to it carefully, to be still and in
solitude. It requires stepping away from external noise, from boxes, from narratives, from
identifications, from victim mentality. And to have a clear understanding that we are a co-creator and that we are the ones generating the meaning.
So what meaning are you generating right now? Is it generating peace or agitation within your
field? Any challenge is an invitation for us to step into our Rama’s Nature – our inner warrior, our inner hero – that commitment to overcome obstacles, and choose not to be broken by them, but instead to use them as a fuel for growth, where we hold ourselves accountable without loosing the compassion towards ourselves, and reverence towards Life, especially at the lowest moments.
Practice aligning mind with heart, and follow its whisper. Discover what you are good at, and what makes your heart sing…and then, when you are fulfilling your duties, your roles, embracing the character…you do it with elevation, because you are aligned with Dharma.
So align first, through sadhana, and from there – participate on the Leela (Divine Play of Life). If we don’t anchor ourselves, we can easily get lost in the Leela, feeling impotent before the great vastness, we then play small and feel helpless, unsupported, incomplete…
Instead of following the money, the status, the objects of the world…follow your inner truth first. Then the worldly things will follow. Don’t confuse the means for the goals. Learn the distinction.
Learn how to reinvent over and over, if you need to, and don’t settle down for anything less than you deserve. Let the truth of who you are be the only constant. Each moment at a time.
